Books have the power to inspire, captivate, and even motivate us to action.  But when we read the Bible, it changes us.  It transforms us. David Paul Kikrpatrick said, “We don’t read the Bible, the Bible read us.”  Hebrews 4:11 says, For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The Bible is a unique book made up of many different parts. It’s a book of history, poetry, wisdom, prophecy, the Gospels, instruction and revelation. However, the thing that makes the Bible stand apart from other books is that it is inspired by God.  The Bible contains many stories throughout, yet tells one continuous story from Genesis to Revelation, which is the story of a God who loves his children, who established a way of salvation and provided a way of redemption.  Each character, each story and every event in the Bible reveals a God who loved his people so much that he was willing to sacrifice his only Son, Jesus, to atone for the sins of the world.

The singular story of redemption throughout the Bible is the inspiration behind the message series, “Long Story Short.”  This insightful series will highlight the major themes throughout the Word of God, as well as help us understand how the gospel is woven into each book of the Bible. I believe this series will allow us to see God’s incredible plan to redeem his people and glorify his name from Genesis to Revelation.  My hope is that each of us gain a deeper understanding of the Bible, and how it points us all to God’s sovereignty, glory and grace.
