Running The Ridge 2019 was a HUGE success!

Running the Ridge 2019 raised $6, 300, and the proceeds were donated to the Steve Roath Cancer Fund.  These funds help provide financial assistance to Steve’s family.  In addition, $675 was donated to The Fannin County Children’s Fund, to purchase items such as clothing, medication, reading glasses and other needs of the children in our community.  Together with the generosity of many local businesses, and the Race’s participants, 72 runners and 30 volunteers, we helped further Steve’s desire to love God, love people and make a difference.

This year’s run was particularly special because it gave us the opportunity to honor the memory of one of our founding pastors, Steve Roath.  Steve was larger than life! He touched so many people in our church, in the community and had more best friends than anyone I know. During one of my last conversations with Steve, I saw a vulnerable side of him that he rarely shared. He expressed his concern for how his family would get by without him.  We needed to find a way to assure him that his family would be taken care of.

The first Running the Ridge was held in 2012. During a Journey Group lead by Pastor Steve, the race was created to help meet the needs of kids in our local community, namely providing shoes and coats for the winter. What a blessing it has been to take an event that began because of Steve’s desire to help those in need and evolve into an opportunity to help his family.

Congratulations to this year’s Running the Ridge winner, Jake Jones, who came in at 19:57.

Special thanks to our Race sponsors: North Georgia Physical Therapy, Tupelo Tea, Blue Jeans Pizza, K&S Tank Lines, Laughing Bear Lodge, Blue Ridge Manufacturing, Lake Shore Logistics, Ray’s Tire and Auto, Mountain Valley Motors, Wrapsody in Blue and all of the local businesses that helped sponsor the basket for our race day raffle.  Also, thank you to the core team, runners and volunteers for making this event so successful.
