I am pleased to announce Matthew Brogdenas the new executive pastor for The Ridge.
Since April, when Pastor James Locke first announced his desire to step down from the role he’s held for nearly five years, we immediately began an executive search. I asked Ken Conway and Allen Peterson, both elders, and Jo Joines, a deacon, to lead the search team. Over the course of two months, they narrowed the field down to two candidates, and Matthew rose to the forefront.
As many of you know, Matthew leads with the heart of a shepherd. He brings more than 20 years of ministry experience to the executive pastor role, serving in a variety of positions and churches around the country. Matthew’s strength lies in equipping God’s people for the work of ministry. I am excited about Matthew helping lead The Ridge into the next season of ministry.
Matthew and James have already started the transition process. I am confident that when I return from sabbatical, the hand-off will be successful, and Matthew will be firmly operating in his new role.
The process turned out to be harder than I envisioned, and I’ve never prayed harder for a decision involving personnel in my 20 years of ministry. I prayed to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. I weighed all input and guidance from the search team. At the end of the day, I made the decision that I felt the Lord was leading me to make.
The search team did an excellent job in what they were asked to do, and I am grateful for their time and input.
Please join me in congratulating Matthew and his wife, Christy. I am extremely excited about the leadership Matthew will bring to this important role. I am looking forward to serving with him as we continue to fulfill our mission to love God, love people and make a difference.
